Abstract: Within the scope of the 2030 Agenda, education is an autonomous objective (SDG 4). The article identifies the potential contribution of educational technologies (edtechs) to SDG 4, focusing on the case of the BNDES Educação Conectada Initiative. The literature indicates a positive but heterogeneous effect of technology on educational practices. This effect is strengthened by complementary strategies, such as offering digital resources and fostering digital skills. Edtechs can contribute to SDG 4 if they are combined with these strategies and contemplate the reduction of inequality in the access to technology in schools. In this direction, the BNDES Educação Conectada Initiative can contribute to SDG 4 by directly impacting the educational systems involved in the projects and generating legacies and learning that any educational system could appropriate.
