A política de concorrência no Brasil e o novo paradigma regulatório

Abstract

This article discusses a redefinition of the State 's role in the economy in the new global economic environment, focusing on how a competitiveness-oriented policy might contribute to settle the existing clash between industrial restructuring and competition. The evolution of a free competition policy in Brazil is also discussed, as well as its current institutional framework. The issue of factors underlying corporate mergers and acquisitions is also tackled vis-a-vis the reality of an economy seeking to achieve a solid competitive structure to meet the new competitiveness standards.
