Marinha mercante do Brasil: perspectivas no novo cenário mundial

Abstract

A reestruturação dos processos industriais no mundo inteiro introduziu novos desafios para o setor de marinha mercante. A simples prestação de serviços de transporte porto a porto foi substituída por sofisticados sistemas de logística, que transportam e gerenciam a movimentação de insumos, partes, componentes e produtos acabados entre unidades e linhas industriais e dessas até os distribuidores finais. O artigo possui seis seções: a primeira apresenta a evolução do comércio mundial, as transformações nos processos de como e onde produzir e os impactos sobre a marinha mercante; a segunda, estatísticas sobre a frota mercante mundial, sua distribuição por países e empresas; a terceira, a dinâmica do mercado mundial de fretes; a quarta, as alterações nos mercados mundiais de transporte marítimo e seus reflexos na organização das empresas; a quinta, o panorama brasileiro; e, por último, a sexta seção apresenta as conclusões do trabalho.

The restructuring of industrial processes throughout the world has brought a new challenge to the merchant marine sector. The simple provision of transport services from port to port has been replaced by sophisticated logistics systems, which transport and manage the movement of supplies, parts, components and finished products between plants and assembly lines and from these to the final distributors. The paper is in six sections: the first shows the development of world trade, the changes in processes regarding how and where production is carried out, and the impact of this on the merchant marine; the second presents statistics concerning the merchant shipping fleet worldwide, its distribution by country and by company; the third deals with the dynamics of the world's freight market; the fourth shows the changes in sea transport markets worldwide and how these are reflected in company organization; the fifth gives an overview of the Brazilian position; and, finally, the study's conclusions are presented in the sixth section.
