Abstract

The article seeks to identify the most important changes in the path of development for the Northeast of Brazil, analyzing trends in the early years of the twenty-first century and placing them in the context of the ongoing changes in the country. While highlighting the most significant continuities, it seeks to identify the influence of federal policies on both continuities and changes. Within this context, the text emphasizes the weight of national policies across sectors (such as social policies, the rise of the real minimum wage, credit and education), while underscoring the limited relevance of strictly regional policies in the period analyzed. The report speculates on the prospects and challenges for the coming decades.
