Abstract: | The second WWP Case Study – part of a series on successful productive inclusion initiatives in Brazil – shows different approaches to provide food security, income and social inclusion to poor family farmers in the sertão (hinterland) of the São Francisco River, state of Bahia. The technical assistance and rural extension (TARE) initiatives for family production projects were developed by the Regional Institute for Appropriate Small Farming and Animal Husbandry (IRPAA) between 2013 and 2016. The outcomes have been successful thanks to the flexibility of the project terms and the collective and participatory methodology implemented by the IRPAA in the diagnosis and project design stages. |
